What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 20,000 youth ages 4-18 annually in and from 110+ Title I schools across LA County!

A mission-driven youth development leader who oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of intersessional programs (summer, winter camps, spring break, and other dates). Role Overview:

The Associate Director of Intercessional Programs at Woodcraft Rangers is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Intersessional programs including summer, winter camps, spring break, and the other dates as requested. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality programs during school breaks and intercessional periods. The associate director will work closely with the director of programs and other team members to develop innovative, engaging, and educational experiences for youth participants.

 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director of Programs to develop a comprehensive intercessional program plan that aligns with Woodcraft Rangers mission, goals, and educational objectives. Identify and design engaging activities, workshops, and events that promote character development, leadership skills, and environmental stewardship, and outdoor education
• Supervise Management team to help support and implement programs goals, staff and program quality.
• Oversee the successful execution of intercessional programs, ensuring adherence to established schedules, budgets, and safety guidelines. Coordinate with program staff, partners, vendors, and community partners to secure necessary resources, facilities, and materials for program activities.
• Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to provide age appropriate, innovating, and relevant professional development.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff, including coordinators, instructors, and support personnel. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional growth, and the delivery of exceptional programming.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and expand participation. Manage external partners to secure funding, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions to support intersessional programs.
• Develop and implement evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness and impact of intersectional programs. Manage, collect and analyze data to measure participant outcomes and program success, and utilize findings to inform program improvements and future planning.
• Demonstrate the ability to look and plan ahead three months to ensure proactive and strategic decision-making.
• Work closely with director of programs to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability. Monitor expenses, track revenue, and seek opportunities for cost saving measures without compromising program quality. Maintain regular effective communication within turn on external stakeholders, including program participants, parent and guardians, school administrators, and community partners
• stay up to date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to intersectional programming and youth development. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and safety standards

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of supervisory experience in a similar role OR 3+ years of management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven track record of effectively leading youth programs and managing teams.
• Strong organizational management and project management skills.
• Commitment to data-driven program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently while managing multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with staff, partners, and community stakeholders.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Frequent standing is required during working hours
• The ability to travel across the Great Los Angeles area, using either a car or public transportation, is necessary several times a month.
• Regular use of hands for various tasks, such as operating a computer and handling objects, is essential.

Status: Full-time; Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $84,000- $94,500(based on experience and qualifications)

Hours of Operation: 9:00am 6:00pm and occasional weekends.

Location: Los Angeles (Little Tokyo Office)
